Jon Lucien's third album "Mind's Eye" was released in 1974, after his commercial success with "Rashida."

Lucien's confidence as a singer and songwriter had grown and he was more willing to incorporate Caribbean elements and experiment with new sounds and instruments. With Bob Marley's success in Europe, Lucien saw the opportunity to showcase his own compositions.

The album features bossa guitars, electric fretless bass, backing singers, synthesizers, percussion, and orchestration by Dave Grusin. Lucien infuses the album with sensuality and emotion, while the mix of instruments and voices creates a lush sound. Lucien's baritone voice carries the songs with passion and his socially conscious lyrics are infused with spirituality.

The album is considered a classic in the pop-soul genre and blends meaningful lyrics with musical arrangements that move listeners. Some may criticize Lucien's singing style as too sweet, but it is necessary for the music's exotic and inspired nature.
