Margarida Campelo is a Lisbon based musician.
She's been a very active contributor to the portuguese music scene for the past 15 years, recording and playing with many project such as Bruno Pernadas, Cassete Pirata, Joana Espadinha, Minta & the Brook Trout.
Her debut album, "Supermarket Joy", is out now.
Indigo De Souza
“I was finally able to trust myself fully,” says Indigo De Souza of making her masterful third album All of This Will End. Across its 11 songs, the LP is a raw and radically optimistic work that grapples with mortality, the rejuvenation that community brings, and the importance of centering yourself now.
Like the hues of reds and oranges that her mother painted on the LP cover, All of This Will End marks a warmer and unmistakably audacious era for her. It’s a statement about fearlessly moving forward from the past into a gratitude-filled present, feeling it all every step of the way, and choosing to embody loving awareness.
JFDR
Icelandic experimental singer-songwriter Jófríður Ákadóttir aka JFDR's latest album Museum is a timeless monument to captured moments. Its nine tracks sculpt fleeting instants of experience into emotional objects, her voice a glowing aura in a mist of glittering gossamer synths and delicate instrumentation.
After the existential questions she's overcome, JFDR's Museum represents an essential step in her ever-growing catalogue and a new beginning for an artist who's already had multiple careers as a musician, but who still feels she's just getting started: "This album is a step to somewhere," she says reflectively, "I feel I'm right in the middle of a new body of work.
Avalon Emerson
Avalon Emerson & The Charm is an evolution.
Created during an extended break from the hectic blur of her life as a touring DJ, the album is a personal statement of intent from an artist who’s long looked beyond the club for inspiration. It’s also the first time that Emerson has put herself, her emotions and, most notably, her voice fully into the spotlight.
Having spent her entire career working more or less alone, Emerson purposely sought out a small cast of like-minded artists to help bring the album to life. Chief among them was UK avant-pop savant Bullion, who executive produced the record and, most importantly, shares both Emerson’s predilection for shimmering pop melodies and her boundaryless approach to music-making.
Working together, they cracked open her head and heart alike, creating a space where she could intimately reflect on the people and places she’s loved and left behind.
Jessie Ware
When Jessie Ware wrote “Remember Where You Are”—the final song on her career-altering 2020 record What’s Your Pleasure?—she knew she’d unlocked the sound of her future. “I think I finally understood my place in music.”
“I felt like I was combining all my loves, from musical theatre to soul, groove, dance and funk to R&B and orchestral moments and group vocals. I wanted to do ‘Remember Where You Are’, but with a big old dance beat.” That’s more or less what you can expect from That! Feels Good!, on which the London singer-songwriter doubles down on her devotion the dance floor and—after the varnished opulence of What’s Your Pleasure?—embraces a looser, louder, more live sound. It’s (almost) all up, with brass and string arrangements, choruses of voices, very winking lyrics and, perhaps most surprisingly, rapping à la Blondie or Tom Tom Club.
The National
First Two Pages of Frankenstein is The National’s ninth studio album.
This 11-song collection signals a new chapter in the band’s discography. Anchored by evocative melodies and an enthralling lyrical narrative, First Two Pages of Frankenstein finds The National sounding more creatively energized than ever and poised to earn them even more fans. The album was produced by the band at Long Pond Studios in upstate New York and features guest appearances by Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers and Sufjan Stevens.
